THE FIRST EPIC FAIL OF MY 2021
Wow, it burns me just to have to write this... but that's the point: I WANT to write it.
Just as we decided to publish the Giveaway vlog because we were excited to share with everyone what was our success; this time I intend to tell here to anyone who wants to read also the other side of the reality of what is my work: the one related to the problems and accidents along the way.
Monday afternoon, 6pm.
I get a video call from Michele (fictitious name because Daniele insists on telling me that I shouldn't write his real name), my producer, who starts by telling me that there's a problem. "Come on," I say, "thank goodness I decided to start the week off on the right foot." He continues with difficulty to finally tell me that he has just received the entire production of FANCY paint in pastel colors (and therefore those of the new season) completely faulty.
Turn the camera to show me this:

50 BAGS.
Half of which must be delivered to Rinascente by the end of January (i.e. today).
Everything fell apart on me in a second.
You know those moments when you realize you have so many problems to solve that you can't believe it? When you feel completely helpless and defeated?
-
.....
.....
...Nothing.
I have to accept it. It happened this way and now I have to find a way to behave accordingly.
The first thing was to take note.
I immediately wrote to Paola, the buyer at Rinascente, informing her of what had happened, obviously apologizing, and she - very kindly - told me to send only the rest of the order.
Hoping at least that sells!!
Yes, because in all of this, Rinascente is also having big problems due to the whole Covid issue which makes everything even more complicated.
Which essentially means this: the chances that Rinascente will reconfirm my order for FW21 on March 16th are practically non-existent.
And I, once again, can do nothing but take note of it.
My fault? Being superficial. I should not have assumed that if there were any initial problems with the production they would have told me. I should have asked to see the developments of the production, I should have been more careful.
It's not my fault, but it's ALSO my fault.
A piece of advice, if I may (but I'll give it to you anyway): when you care so much about something, especially perhaps something of your own, a project, an idea... don't expect others to dedicate themselves to it as much as you do. Always question yourself and your work and don't hesitate to do and redo, check and double-check. No one will do it for you. Because if there is a mistake, of whatever nature it may be, the responsibility, at the end of the day, will be yours alone.
So, even if I don't know what I'll do with these 50 bags, I know that neither these nor all the Rinascentes in the world will discourage me.
There will definitely be better (and worse) Mondays so #AlwaysBiMOR , damn.
With lots of love (and a little bit of annoyance)
